Curfew does not stop business

Bolton-based E.T. Hire reports that business has proved resilient and believes that this is due in no small part to the government’s financial support measures such as the furlough scheme and grant aid.

“This has enabled local contractors to adapt to the challenges, keep working and pay their bills,” managing director Marcus Gunning tells me.

“We must have supplied equipment for projects at virtually every hospital in Greater Manchester, from dustless cutting systems and air cubes, to low-level access products and pedestrian barriers. Many ward refurbishments are taking place.”

Bolton has been the subject of tighter coronavirus restrictions after a rise in cases earlier this month, including evening curfews and only allowing restaurants to provide takeaway meals. However, Marcus says that the new measures have not affected E.T. Hire's business unduly.

“We have full preventative measures in place at the depot, such as counter screens, sanitising stations and social distancing arrangements, and we deep clean the building every evening.

“We’ve been adding to the fleet to meet demand. Recent purchases include Altrad Belle generators, Hilti breakers, and we’ve just added Euro Towers’ new low-level Eurodeck 700 platform (pictured) which the company was able to supply in our corporate colours,” he says.
