More power from JCB

JCB is expanding its battery Powerpack range with the addition of three larger models delivering a 400V, three-phase output. This takes the range to five machines, with total storage capacities of 23-104kWh and the newcomers complement the two existing 230V single-phase units.

In typical construction site use, diesel generators can spend as much as 80 per cent of the time running inefficiently at or below 30 per cent load and need regular servicing.

The battery packs support low overnight loadings on construction projects, and can provide power for larger equipment applications such for lighting and heating in tower cranes, with the diesel generator only required during lifting operations. The units can also be used for charging electric machinery, such as JCB’s E-Tech mini excavators, compact telescopic handlers and site dumpers.

The machines help hire companies and contractors to reduce diesel use, emissions, servicing and operating costs, as well as extending generator life.

The three new Powerpacks comprise the 3.50QE, 3.75QE and 3.100QE models offering a total storage capacity of 46kWh, 69kWh and 104kWh respectively. With a continuous output of 36kW at 25°C, each unit offers multiple socket connections, with RCD protection and input and output busbars.

The machines are JCB LiveLink enabled, providing remote monitoring and giving users the option to remotely turn off sockets that are no longer required.
