Electric JCB additions

JCB has introduced a number of new electrically driven powered access machines to its portfolio, with more models to follow.
The manufacturer has updated its hydraulically-driven scissor lift range with six electric drive models. Three are initially available, the S1932E, S2632E and S3246E, to be followed by the S2646E, S4050E and the S4550E.
The S1932E (pictured above) replaces the S1930E and is 50mm wider, despite a 106kg reduction in in operating weight. The S1932E offers a platform height of 5.71m and a platform capacity of 230kg, while the S2632E has a 7.92m platform height and a 250kg capacity. The S3246E offers a 9.7m platform height with a 320kg weight limit.
Later in the year, JCB will launch the S2646E with a 7.9m platform height and a 450kg load capacity, the S4046E which has an 11.9m platform height and 320kg weight limit, and the S4550E that offers a platform height of up to 13.8m and has a 230kg capacity.
The company says that machine run time is increased by up to 53 per cent due to the electric drive motors replacing hydraulic units.
New also are two articulated boom aerial work platforms offering a choice of full battery electric and diesel/electric hybrid drivelines.
The A45E (pictured below) is a full-electric version of the previous AJ48D, while the A45EH is a diesel/electric hybrid version of the same machine. The former is powered by eight 6V batteries, creating a 48V, 400Ah operating system, while the A45EH uses a 14.8kW three-cylinder diesel engine and a 7.5kW generator to charge the machine’s eight 6V batteries. The machine can also be plugged into a mains supply if available.
Both models four-wheel drive and two-wheel steering as standard. The wheels are driven by four AC motors which recover energy through regenerative braking, to prolong battery performance.
Maximum platform height is 13.84m on both machines, with a horizontal reach of up to 7.47m, providing an up-and-over clearance of 7.48m. The lift capacity for both booms is 300kg.
