Grass for hire

It’s often said that many people will only adopt greener ways of living and working when presented with a clear economic case for doing it. So if suggestions made in a new study into eco-friendly garden spaces are adopted, it could be good news for tool hire companies and suppliers.

Writing about his findings in the journal Urban Forestry and Urban Greening, Professor Ross Cameron from the University of Sheffield believes that a higher proportion of garden areas should have lawns and plants instead of concrete and tarmac to retain water, attract wildlife and cool the local environment.

There are also suggestions that householders adopting greener approaches like replacing artificial grass lawns with real turf could receive council tax discounts.

The blog has previously mentioned the ongoing debate about the pros and cons of synthetic grass in gardens and such financial incentives in the future could tip the balance.

If so, demand would grow for hired equipment to remove the grass carpets, break concrete, install and maintain turf and manage hedgerows, including electric and cordless tools to reduce fossil fuel usage.
