Genny Hire gets FuelActive

Genny Hire is amongst the latest companies to install FuelActive’s system that fits inside diesel tanks to prevent contaminated fuel being used in equipment.

The specialist power generation equipment hirer, which is based in Kintore to the north west of Aberdeen, is initially fitting six FuelActive units to larger generators in its fleet above 500kVA and fuel storage tanks. The intention is to install it on other equipment in the future.

“Some of our generators can be out on hire for several months or even years working in offshore locations and other locations, so there is no way of controlling how fuel is managed on site,” Genny Hire Director Lorna Clark told me.

“The FuelActive system gives another level of protection if there should be contaminants present such as water, particles or bacteria. It will help reduce costs, prevent damage and improve reliability on site which is always our number one priority,” she added.

At the heart of the FuelActive system is a floating pickup pipe that draws clean diesel from the top of the fuel level, avoiding contaminants gathered at the bottom.

Matthew Hide, UK & Ireland Sales Manager with FuelActive, is pictured (left) delivering the units to Lorna Clark and Chris Soal, Genny Hire’s Workshop Supervisor. Matthew tells me that business is brisk at the moment, with significant interest being shown from a number of hire companies, particularly within the power generation and pumping sectors.

FuelActive says that its system requires no regular maintenance, with any contamination and water being drained from the bottom of the tank in the normal way during regular machine inspections and servicing. It is offered with a five-year warranty and has been tested on a wide range of equipment, with fuel flow rates of up to 4,000 litres per hour.

● Genny Hire recently added more Shindaiwa generators to its fleet to meet growing demand, as reported previously on the blog.
