Paramount Platforms Ltd of Chelmsford has placed an order for nine bi-energy Hinowa tracked spider lifts worth over £1 million from Access Platform Sales.

Most of the machines are models powered by their diesel engines or via a 110V electrical supply. These include two Lightlift 15.70 spider lifts, a pair of Lightlift 20.10s and a Lightlift 26.14.

Four models incorporate a lithium battery as well as a diesel engine, including two Lightlift 18.80 platforms, a Lightlift 33.17 and a Lightlift 40.18 Performance IIIS (pictured below) which, with a maximum working height of 40m and outreach of up to 17.5m, is the biggest platform that Hinowa has produced to date.

All the compact machines provided an unrestricted platform capacity of 230kg, with the 40.18 model allowing an extra 70kg within a restricted outreach of 16m.

Their dimensions mean they are suitable for accessing confined spaces and working across low load-bearing surfaces, and they are popular in sectors such as building surveying and maintenance, construction, tree management, and mechanical engineering projects.

Paramount Platforms Director Lee Kerr said: “Our customers like using them because they’re so simple and smooth to operate. Lithium bi-energy spider lifts are growing in popularity because clients want the flexibility and efficiency of indoor and outdoor working in one machine.

“Also, being able to use nearly silent, zero emissions platforms is ideal for working in residential areas. The clients of the contractors we work with are increasingly expecting a contribution to their zero carbon strategies,” he added.

The Hinowa Lightlift 18.80 spider boom can be towed on a 3.5-tonne trailer using a van or 4×4 car and can be supplied with radio remote control as an option.
