Gold for GAP
14 February 2023
GAP Group has maintained its FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Gold Certification status, operating at all depots in and south of Birmingham.
The scheme recognises organisations that make ongoing improvements in operator safety, fuel economy and vehicle emissions for sustainability, as well as complying with road transport regulations.
GAP now only purchases vehicles fitted with the latest environmentally friendly Euro 6 diesel engines, achieving significant reductions in CO2, NOx and particulate matter emissions. Additionally, the recent inclusion of electric vehicles into the transport fleet has enabled the company to support customers implementing zero emission sites.
The hirer has fitted its HGVs with safety equipment including cameras, nearside proximity aids and audible reversing alarms to support safe driving practices in congested urban areas.
GAP has also invested in an asset management, delivery and telematics system which monitors driver behaviour, as well as route planning capabilities that contribute towards reducing idling and fuel usage.
Allister Maxwell, GAP’s Head of Safety, Risk & Compliance, said: “GAP’s continued FORS certification demonstrates that our drivers and vehicles are maintaining exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency and environmental protection.”
GAP is working towards achieving net zero emissions status by 2040.
