Belle adds to the mix

Altrad Belle reported a steady flow of orders for its new Minimix 150E+ battery powered mixer at last week’s Executive Hire Show, where the product was previewed before entering full production around the end of next month.

MD Ray Neilson (pictured) told me that the machine has been engineered to have the same characteristics as the existing petrol and corded electric versions that users are familiar with in terms of handling and performance.

Power comes from an 82V battery driving an electric motor, whose positioning and weight give the same easy-tip capability as the established Minimix variants.

Altrad Belle states that the battery lasts for around 20 complete mixes – more than enough for a typical working day. Recharging to 80 per cent capacity takes approximately 28 minutes, reaching full charge in 39 minutes.

“The initial feedback has been excellent,” said Ray. “We demonstrated the Minimix 150E+ recently to a local builder in Leek and he said it was just what he and his clients wanted.

“He was building an extension at a house where power is not readily available. Using the battery product means noise is reduced, there are no emissions and there is no need to source and handle petrol.”

While the Minimix 150E+ has a slightly higher price tag, Ray said that overall savings will be achieved through not having to buy fuel. Turnaround between hires should also be faster as there is obviously no engine, carburettor or starter cords to service and maintain.
