Himoinsa powers forward

Himoinsa has outlined a clear strategy for developing its platform of products focused on sustainability and digitalisation.

The company, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary and has already introduced its EHR battery power generator and the HBOX+ hybrid lighting tower, says it will develop more battery-driven solutions over the next three years. Himoinsa announced the plans at the Bauma exhibition in Munich last month.

These will include additions to the EHR battery power generator line-up from 500kVA to 2MW capacity, complementing the existing models of up to 60kW/h, to cover higher power generation needs. Units can work as a single ‘island’ source of power generation for large machines like cranes and pumps, and can be used alongside gas and diesel generator sets for optimal operation with reduced emissions.

Himoinsa’s development programme also includes the MCS Mobile Charging Station, a transportable unit that will provide power to charge battery machinery in hirers’ yards or at customers’ construction sites.

Miguel Ángel Ruiz, global engineering and development head at Himoinsa, says that the company is also considering the possibility of offering containerised units with a capacity of up to 2MW that can charge multiple machines and vehicles at the same time.

The third area of focus is the BESS Battery Energy Storage System designed to accumulate surplus power at sites with multiple power sources, such as renewables, gas, diesel and biodiesel, ranging from 500kW to 2MW for off-grid and on-grid applications.

An integral part of the system is the Hicore management system to integrate communication between all power sources into a single control interface. It is designed for simplicity of use and can be integrated with gas and diesel generators, or connected to public electricity grids and renewable energy sources.

“We are working on the electrification of products that will coexist alongside the traditional gas and diesel generator sets that Himoinsa has offered historically, and we are also working hard to reduce our carbon footprint with more efficient and environmentally sustainable gas and diesel generator solutions”, said Francisco Gracia, president and CEO of Himoinsa, which is a Yanmar Group company.

Himoinsa is working closely with Yanmar Energy System, its parent’s power division, to create a global R&D team based in Valencia, in one of Himoinsa’s group companies that specialises in developing electronic systems, including both software and firmware.

Francisco Gracia says that Himoinsa is committed to investing approximately 20 per cent of its Ebitda into R&D each year.
