Batteries Box clever in Barcelona

Battery powered equipment hired for a water pipeline construction project in Barcelona enabled the work to be completed without direct exhaust emissions being created. 

A range of machines from Wacker Neuson were supplied to the contractor by the local depot of Homs Rentals for tasks including breaking, excavating, backfilling and compaction. 

"This is one of the first construction projects in Spain to use only zero emission machines,” said Marc Homs, chief financial officer at Homs Rentals. "A Charging Box from Wacker Neuson was used on the construction site for testing purposes. At this mobile charging station, the batteries of all electric machines can be easily charged overnight or during work breaks. This makes the construction site completely independent of the power grid.” 

Machines used during the project included the EZ17e electric zero tail swing mini excavator with a hydraulic hammer attachment, WL20e wheel loader, DW15e wheel dumper, two AS50e battery-powered rammers and the APS1340e vibratory plate.
