Speedy maintains ESG commitment
17 November 2022
Speedy’s interim results announced earlier this week included details about the hirer’s ongoing drive to address ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues.
The company claims to be the first company in its sector, and one of a small number of organisations globally, to commit to Science Based Targets (SBTi's) to achieve net zero carbon before 2040.
It has also partnered with sustainability consultants to reduce the carbon data of its fleet to support customers’ net zero targets.
During the six-month period to 30 September 2022, Speedy says it invested £30.5 million in its hire fleet, and that some 41 per cent of this was in carbon-efficient environmentally friendly products, increasing the amount of equipment utilising electric and renewable energy sources.
The proportion of the company’s revenue from such ‘eco’ products has increased from approximately 26 per cent in H1 FY2022 to 32 per cent in H1 FY2023, and Speedy has continued to invest in electric vehicle fleet, including 100 all-electric delivery vehicles.
