Trime’s Solar success
31 October 2022
Trime (UK) reports that interest in its solar-powered lighting products continues to grow, especially as more contractors are specifically requesting machines using this energy source rather than diesel.
“It’s an obvious progression they can take on the way to Net Zero,” managing director Paul Hay tells me. “Solar technology has now reached the point where the photovoltaic panels can genuinely give good illumination for a full night shift in any UK location.”
Paul makes the point that users need to be aware of having to deploy such equipment in the optimum way.
“For example, it makes a big difference if the machines are positioned so that the solar panels are south-facing. Hirers also need to ensure that they are sent out to site fully charged.
“In addition, it’s important that users have a schedule for regularly maintaining the panels, which will attract dirt, dust, mud and other debris making them less efficient.”
So, while engine-free solar powered products require less servicing and maintenance, they still need to be looked after correctly.
Trime’s range includes the aptly named X-Solar lighting tower which has four slide-out solar panels and AGM batteries. The company recently took an order for 400 machines from a national UK hirer.
