Hydrogen provides a Nifty solution
21 October 2022
Niftylift has developed a variant of its Height Rider HR15E electric self-propelled boom running off hydrogen gas canisters for zero-emission operation.
The configuration also enables continuous operation in locations where charging facilities are unavailable.
Managing director John Keely tells me that one G20 size hydrogen cylinder provides up to three weeks of typical use with no fumes or emissions. This makes the machine suitable for use indoors, in tunnels and in similar enclosed environments.
The hydrogen charges onboard AGM maintenance-free batteries, with lithium-ion versions available as an option. The machine also incorporates a telematics system giving data on usage and performance.
The hydrogen-electric HR15E was displayed at the recent Speedy Expo in Liverpool, where Niftylift was announced as the hirer’s Supplier of the Year – Innovation.
John says that the technology could also be fitted to other Niftylift electric self-propelled boom lifts.
