Obart crates hold green benefits
19 October 2022
Obart Pumps is enhancing its green credentials and helping its local community by recycling packaging materials in imaginative ways.
The company regularly receives pump deliveries at its Maidstone headquarters in large wooden crates. Instead of disposing of them, Obart sends them to local nursery Greenwood Plants to transport plant stock between its various sites nurseries and also to make deliveries to building sites, assisting them to better meet loading and unloading needs.
In exchange for the crates, Greenwood Plants makes a donation to Obart’s chosen charity, Dandelion Time, which helps vulnerable children and their families through practical gardening, farming and craft-based activities in the natural environment.
In addition, Obart has donated surplus pallets to the local Oaks Primary Academy in Maidstone. Schoolchildren have been able to turn them into garden boxes to create floral displays around the building.
Obart regularly receives deliveries in pallets or crates and some arrive broken or have dimensions that do not match the storage racking in the company’s warehouse, so by donating them they can be put to good use.
