Sun shines on ThinkHire

The adoption of environmentally friendly machinery powered by cleaner energy sources is gaining real momentum according to the specialist hirer ThinkHire, which is adapting its fleet accordingly.    

“We don’t offer anything in our fleet that is purely diesel driven now, and our minimum proposition is now hybrid equipment,” says managing director Neil Richardson. “And we have migrated all our lighting towers to purely solar models. The technology has advanced to the point now that any performance or reliability issues in the past are completely mitigated. 

“As the products become more popular, the cost will come down and as things get commoditised, they become more affordable. Previously customers were choosing green equipment basically to tick a sustainability box or as something that was just nice to offer, but now it’s an essential requirement.” 

ThinkHire’s solar lighting product fleet includes equipment from Trime (UK) and Ritelite, amongst other suppliers. Equipment can also be powered by ThinkHire’s Solartainer solar generators. 

The company, which will soon move its headquarters to larger premises on a three-acre site in east Manchester, has other depots in Harpenden and Irvine. 

Neil Richardson also tells me that there are number of innovative product additions in the pipeline.
