Smart unit from ThinkHire

ThinkHire, which specialises in hiring out relocatable renewable energy stations and solar hybrid power generation equipment, has launched its first portable product, namely the SiteGrid X3. 

The compact battery pack weighs only 25kg and delivers 4kVA of peak power. Manufactured to ThinkHire’s specifications, it is designed for applications such as charging tools and site radios, working in remote locations and for powering low-consumption equipment like link-lighting. 

“The SiteGrid X3 is light enough for one person to carry and can be charged from a wall socket, a solar array or in a vehicle while travelling from site to site,” managing director Neil Richardson tells me. “It offers an alternative to a small petrol generator.” 

Neil says that the product has attracted positive feedback from several Tier 1 contractors who trialled it before the official launch. 

ThinkHire’s product portfolio includes solar hybrid generators, electric vehicle and plant chargers, hybrid generators and larger battery storage units, site lighting, site accommodation and welfare facilities. 

The business was founded in May 2018 and after initially concentrating on product R&D it launched its hire services in January 2020. 

As well as the equipment, the company can provide customers with information on energy performance and running costs to meet planned usage requirements, enabling them to see carbon reductions in real time.

Neil says that the market for eco-friendly products is steadily growing and that in its latest financial year ThinkHire’s turnover increased by 129%. 

The company will be moving its headquarters shortly to larger premises in Manchester. It has other depots in Harpenden and Irvine.
