Now that spring finally seems to be here, although the wet weather has been doing its best to convince us otherwise, Makita has unveiled a number of lawn care products for professional users.

These include the cordless LM003G 40VMax XGT 380mm lawnmower which has a special blade design. Tilting down towards the front of the mower is said to minimise double-cutting and reduces the load on the machine, leading to reduced energy consumption and better grass collecting.

The larger 430mm-wide LM004G 40VMax XGT (pictured above) is also available and has two different blade options for different applications.

Both machines can be fitted with a mulching blade to cut grass clippings into small particles and scatter them evenly on the ground. They offer a continuous runtime of around 50 minutes, depending on the setting and the grass conditions, and they have straightforward handle lock levers so that each side of the handle can be locked and unlocked in a single action, without the need for tools.

Also new is the UV001G 40VMax XGT brushless 380mm lawn scarifier (shown below), available as a body-only model or complete with two 5.0Ah batteries and a charger. It is the first machine of its kind to join Makita’s cordless line-up.

The scarifier has a high power output of 1.7kW to cut through tough lawn thatch for better drainage. Operating to a depth range of 5mm down to -12mm, it comes with a vertical cutting blade for aerating soil below the top surface of the lawn, and a thatching blade for removing deposited lawn clippings and surface moss.
