Gary Loughran, Key Account Manager with Dromad Hire, has been named as the overall winner in the Irish Photographic Federation’s IFM National Photography Competition for 2024.

Gary, who is also a member and the treasurer of the Carrickmacross Camera Club, won with his picture entitled ‘Pannenhuis ‘ showing Brussels metro station, also winning Gold in the Urban category. In addition, he picked up a highly commended accreditation for his image ‘Ornate’ in the same category.

Gary says he is quite new to photography, having taken it up as a hobby during the pandemic, and he has won numerous accolades for his work at a European Level.

“It’s a great honour for me to not only win Gold for my entry into Urban category but actually to get the overall Image of the Year was such a remarkable achievement for me, one I couldn’t even dream of happening.

“My love for travel and architecture drives me to take adventures, with just my camera and I. The support I get from my club is phenomenal and its great to see a small club like ours doing so well."
