Go green with Belle

A common theme on Site-Eco is that contractors and end users need to be able to choose from a range of energy sources in order to find the optimum solution during the transition to net zero.

Altrad Belle’s compaction plate range illustrates the point, as it includes mains electric, battery and conventional petrol powered variants.

Petrol models like the PCX 13/40 forward plate compactor can be used in locations with no convenient electricity supply, while the PCX 13/40E electric and PCX 13/40E+ battery (pictured above) versions can respectively be run off the mains or from a suitable power source.

“More and more customers are asking for the mains and battery plates to improve their carbon footprint, and more national and independent hirers are adding them to their fleets,” Ray Neilson, Altrad Belle’s managing director, told me on the company’s stand at the Hillhead exhibition last week.

A significant feature of the 13/40E+ is that the Honda eGX motor is fitted with the battery positioned so as to reduce the risk of vibration affecting the cells.

And of course, the electric and battery models can be used indoors, and in poorly ventilated areas like basements and tunnels, without risk of fumes.

It’s a case of choosing the most appropriate equipment from the available options according to the power sources on a site.
