Swiss resort chooses battery machines

Battery powered machinery from Wacker Neuson came into its own when contractors in Switzerland were working at a nature trail in the Alps where emissions have to be kept to a minimum.

A mountain bike trail is being built at the Aletsch Arena in the Bettmeralp region. Roman Gadient from the contractor Velosolutions says that the equipment was chosen to avoid direct exhaust emissions and to reduce noise.

Machines used included two zero tail swing EZ17e mini excavators and a DT10e tracked dumper for transporting materials. The machines were charged via the 415V electricity supply at the facility for powering snow cannons.

For soil compaction, two battery-powered APS1135e vibratory plates were used.
