Low-emission Groundhog

The new i.760 static unisex welfare unit from Genquip Groundhog is a good example of how new technology can be added to existing systems to make them even more environmentally friendly.
Power for the product comes from the latest generation 330Ah lithium-ion battery with two 360W solar panels and a large 2000VA inverter/charger.
Inside the cabin is a waterless urinal, two ceramic flushing toilets and fixed overhead 12V lighting.
Genquip director Ryan Ratcliffe tells me that a 6.5kVA backup generator is incorporated instead of the more typical 10kVA unit, resulting in a lower carbon footprint.
“Everything except the kettle can be run without powering up the generator, including the hot water system, microwave, heating and lighting,” he says.
The engine can run on HVO and the cabin has seating space for eight people, with a separate office area and a drying room.
