Street-wise with MHM

It’s often the case that an eco-friendly product offers benefits that make it a better choice from an operational perspective and not just on sustainability grounds. 

Such an example is a project carried out by the specialist lighting equipment hirer Illumin8 Lights, which was asked to supply equipment for a lorry park in Anglesey. 

Managing director Neil Fenwick said: “At first we were considering supplying the client with either our super-silent lighting towers or hybrid sets with a refuelling service. However this would have meant regular visits to site, which is not environmentally ideal and could prove to be costly.” 

In addition, the site was only lightly supervised with no provisions in place for the storage or delivery of diesel. 

Neil contacted MHM Group who suggested their Street-Lite, a compact battery powered unit with a 5.5m mast. 

The machine an integrated AGM (absorbed glass mat) sealed-lead battery and is charged via a 175kW solar panel that is designed to operate in most weather conditions and can run for up to 13 hours per charge.

A sensor dims the light when it detects no movement on site,  and a dusk-to-dawn control switches the unit on and off automatically. 

Another benefit is that the Street-Lite is silent in operation which is ideal for the Anglesey site as it is near to residential housing. In total 44 machines were supplied for the project.
