Drive to be green

A common sight on delivery vans and lorries are loose wheel nut indicators which give a quick visual safety check.

Manufacturer Checkpoint has now developed the Bio-Check range which is designed to be fully biodegradable.

Scott Collins, Product Manager with the Carnforth-based company, tells me that existing products are already recyclable and that customers are encouraged to dispose of them safely or to return them at the end of their typical two-year life.

“Many, however, just throw them away and they end up in landfill. So we are including a biodegradable additive in the Bio-Check products which means they will break down naturally and completely after seven years.”

This additive is formulated only to activate when in a landfill environment, being triggered by a combination of factors like heat and the presence of certain bacteria.
