MHM’s solar charger

MHM can now offer a solar hybrid generator like its MGTP 10000SHG with a charger attachment for recharging electric vehicles. 

Operations director Rob Pullen says that more main contractors are now stipulating that such vehicles should be used on sites and for deliveries where possible. The charger is the small green box in the picture foreground.

The hybrid machine is a 10kVA unit which has a solar panel to charge its integral battery, with a small generator as a backup. 

At sites with sufficient space, large solar arrays, such as those on the left of the picture, can also be installed and connected so that more green power can be provided to the battery. 

The MGTP 10000SHG was used at a BAM Nuttall project last year. Over a 13-week period it was estimated to have saved 5,166 litres of fuel compared against a typical diesel installation.
