Ready to go electric?

Known for its vehicle tracking and asset management services, Teletrac Navman offers an EV Readiness tool that can assess a user’s existing diesel of petrol fleet and calculate how economic it could be to switch to electric vehicles. 

A small device called the SI201 plugs into the onboard diagnostic (OBD) port in a vehicle and captures data regarding locations visited, distance travelled, engine details and other information about the vehicle over a period of three months, allowing comparisons to be made. 

The web-based system can also provide a timetable with the most economic dates by which to change vehicles, says the company, as well as suggesting what charging infrastructure will be needed.
