EVs with Innovation

Innovation Automotive is a new business which plans to launch formally towards the end of the year but made its debut at the recent Commercial Vehicle Show.

The company will import electric vehicles (EVs) from China and offer them direct to customers rather than using a traditional dealer network.

CEO Paul Brigden, who was previously Operations Director with Mitsubishi Motors in the UK, tells me that IA is talking with potential customers to ascertain what they need and how it can best be delivered.

He believes that many buyers have got used to purchasing high-cost items over the internet during the pandemic and that EVs lend themselves to this model owing to their relatively trouble-free technology and minimal servicing requirements.

Already selected for the range is the compact all-electric DFSK EC35 panel van for inner city and ‘last mile’ deliveries. It has a payload capacity of 950kg, a range of over 150 miles and can be recharged in 90 minutes.

Also available will be the DFSK EC31 electric chassis cab van. Both models are scheduled to go on sale in early 2022, and passenger cars will also be introduced.
