Genquip fuels success

The construction and engineering contractor, nmcn, formerly known as North Midland Construction, has won a RISE (Research, Innovation, Sustainability and Enterprise) Award for its eco-friendly use of a Genquip Groundhog FC500 welfare unit powered by a hydrogen fuel cell

The product won in the Sustainable Developments category. Incorporating Genquip’s HogCell, it uses environmentally friendly solar power in combination with a methanol fuel cell.

Commenting on the win, Rob Walsh, nmcn’s Plant, Transport and Accommodation Director said: “The unit provides an immediate 100% reduction in nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and diesel particulates as well as offering reliable and economical power that is safe and silent.

“This will help us achieve our carbon reduction goals and support our ongoing commitment to the environment.”
