Bobcat takes the Stage
27 August 2021
While it may be on the large side for the typical tool hire and equipment hire fleet, the launch by Bobcat of a new 6-tonne wheeled excavator model with a Stage V engine shows that there will still be demand for machines with internal combustion engines to provide the necessary power and performance.
The E57W has a 42.5kW (57hp) engines incorporating diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) after-treatment.
Interestingly, maximum torque is produced at 1,600rpm, which is 200rpm lower than for the previous Stage IIIB engine. Auto-idle and auto shut-off (stopping the engine after the machine has been idling for a specified time) are also incorporated.
