Speedy access to HVO

Speedy access to HVO

Speedy is now providing eco-friendly hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) as standard with the machines supplied by its 11 specialist powered access machinery service centres

The move to replace red diesel with the fuel is expected to initially save 225 tonnes of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalent – a standard unit for measuring total carbon footprints) each year, at no additional cost to customers, the hirer says.

The company will also supply HVO directly to customers’ sites in a range of formats, from 20-litre Fuelbox packs to fully managed fuel services.

Speedy has selected the Green D+ version of HVO as its preferred fuel. This is more refined and can be used in unmodified diesel engines, reducing emissions by up to 90%.

Andy Briggs, managing director at Speedy Powered Access, said: “Moving away from red diesel complements our multi-million-pound investment in electric and hybrid assets in the last year. No matter what machinery contractors require, we now have a low-carbon solution to meet their needs.”

Interestingly, the company expects to rollout HVO as standard for power generation, plant and commercial fleet customers in the near future, and has already done so for some contractor clients.
