Kärcher Hire sweeps forward

Having officially rebranded in January, the Kärcher Hire operation reports growing demand for its range of industrial cleaning equipment.

The activity was established when Kärcher bought the specialist business Clean Sweep Hire in 2016, which served customers nationwide from it base in the north west of England.

It now hires equipment from the manufacturer’s entire portfolio, ranging from road sweepers and scrubber dryers, to steam cleaners and pressure washers, serving clients such as contract cleaners, construction companies and facilities management firms, as well as re-hiring to several national and regional hire companies, together with training and technical support.

“We’ve always wanted to preserve the family feel and responsiveness of the original business,” Matt Gellie, Head of Rental with Kärcher UK told me.

At the time of the acquisition, Clean Sweep already offered only Kärcher equipment. The hire fleet has since been expanded and currently comprises 2,500 machines. The latest additions include dry ice cleaners (resembling shot blasters) and robotic floor sweepers.

“We have depots at our head office in Banbury, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester and Newcastle with more planned. We offer next-day delivery to anywhere in the UK with dedicated service and breakdown support,” said Matt. “We will get a technician to site within 24 hours and if a machine can’t be repaired quickly we will swap it within 48 hours.

“Equipment can be hired for any length of time from two days to five years, and we have a  good mix of short term and long term hires, helping people when they need machines urgently and users such as contract cleaners who benefit from our service and the avoidance of depreciation.

“The name change has also helped us as the Kärcher branding better reflects the broad range of equipment we offer,” said Matt.
