New DG for AMPS

AMPS, the Association of Manufacturers and suppliers of Power generating Systems, has appointed David Oates as its Director General.

He has previously held senior management positions with Finning UK, Pramac-Generac UK and most recently DTGen, the Glasgow-based designer and installer of power generation systems.

“My goal is to ensure that AMPS continues to be seen as the official voice and authority of the industry with both government and regulatory bodies,” said David, who is pictured (left) with AMPS Chairman, Paul Aitken.

“We hope to make it a wider-engaging organisation that represents the ideas and thoughts of all members both directly and indirectly. Ensuring the exchange of ideas and information across the membership is key to the ongoing success of AMPS, either through regional meetings or various trade events across the country.

“Our members face various challenges as the industry changes and adapts to the technology and environmental pressures around us. We hope to play a role in promoting contact with others in the industry and be a source of information, education and training where required,” he added.

AMPS members range from multinational OEMs to small specialist suppliers who design, manufacture, supply or assemble and market electrical generating systems, engines, motors, generators, switchgear and related components. Membership also includes distributors, dealers and hirers of electrical generating systems.
