Hillhead plans big for 2024

June 2024 might seem a long way off but the organisers of the Hillhead construction, quarrying and recycling equipment exhibition are already planning for the next event taking place from the 25th to the 27th of that month at the Hillhead Quarry near Buxton.

Last year’s event was deemed the most successful in the biennial show’s 40-year history, attracting almost 18,500 visitors and 604 exhibitors.

To improve entry to the site throughout the busy morning period, 1,000 additional parking spaces have been allocated to maximise entry from multiple access points.

Exhibitors will have their own dedicated entrance taking them directly into the showground as part of a reconfigured Registration Pavilion to enable fast track access at the beginning and end of the day.

The show opening times for visitors are being put back to 9am from 8:30am to allow exhibitors more time to get onto the site and parked up beforehand.

The renamed Showground Pavilion, previously the Main Pavilion, is being extended by around 1,300m². As well as generating more indoor stand space, this will also house a newly designed café as well as an outdoor terraced seating area.

Given the intense heat in recent summers, a welcome addition will be two new hydration stations which will be introduced where visitors and exhibitors can top up water bottles with fresh, cold, filtered water free of charge.

There will also be a new dedicated helicopter landing area, although I doubt if I'll be in a position to take advantage of that...
