Busy Hireline on the move

Plant and tool hirer Hireline will be moving to new premises in January and the company reports that business levels continue to grow.
Hireline has been based at its current location in Dalkeith since being founded in 2012 by managing director Pat McCluskey, who says he and his team of ten can’t wait to move in to the new site at Macmerry, in East Lothian, about eight miles away.
“We’re moving with the times to a more modern facility,” he told me. “The new site will have a purpose-built workshop, trade counter, offices and an extensive yard. It occupies the largest unit on a new industrial estate.”
An earlier blog story last year reported how busy Hireline was, with high utilisation rates and delays in new machine deliveries, and Pat says that business levels remain very strong, despite talk of a slowdown in some economic circles. Indeed, Hireline’s financial year end is this month and the figures are expected to show another record performance.
“Up until July we were still absolutely flat out. It slowed down a bit for about six months but it has picked up again very strongly and we’re very busy. There is a lot of house building in our area and, in fact, our former yard was sold by the landlord for development. The developer talks of there being a chronic shortage of housing in the Edinburgh area, so they’re not expecting activity to stop.
“And generally speaking, construction is still buoyant. No one knows what lies ahead but at the moment I’m certainly not complaining,” said Pat.
