New era dawns for Kensite Services

Kensite Services is a good example of a business that is planning for expansion despite the challenging economic background.

Founded in 1988 and based in Atherton, Greater Manchester, the specialist hirer of portable site accommodation, welfare cabins, toilets and related equipment was acquired in 2019 by current owners Craig Ainscough (whose father Brendan was a co-founder of the Ainscough Crane Hire business) and Aidan Grimshaw whose background is primarily in commercial property.

They are also directors of Think Hire, the specialist provider of environmentally friendly site lighting, power generation and vehicle charging systems.

“Earlier this year we undertook a review of the business and put a development programme in place,” said Campbell Rodden, who joined Kensite Services in February 2022 as Managing Director, having had considerable senior management experience in the accommodation hire industry.

“There has been significant investment in the business, not just in terms of upgrading and expanding the hire fleet, but also in modernising the premises and the infrastructure of the Atherton site. The operation is quite different now compared with, say, six months ago. It’s a new era for the business.

“We’ve also recruited Kevin Taylor as our new Business Development Director and Samantha Earley as our new Sales/Hire Controller to help drive our growth strategy.”

Kensite is currently undergoing a corporate rebranding which will be launched by the end of the year. This will represent a significant change in the business from what was predominantly a portable accommodation provider to become a complete site solutions provider, diversifying its product and service offering to a wider market sector across the UK. This will incorporate more solar powered energy-saving products and services that will allow Kensite to differentiate itself in the market place.

The company believes that a fundamental reason behind its success has been its commitment to excellent customer service, having an experienced team within the business and a culture driven on continuous improvement.

There are also plans to extend the area of activity beyond its current region of primarily the north west of England to also cover Yorkshire, the Midlands and perhaps into Wales and Scotland, which could involve new depot locations.

“A lot of our customers work in many different parts of the country and so we want to ensure they can use us wherever they go,” said Campbell.
