Hydrema adopts CESAR ECV

Hydrema (UK) is the latest construction machinery manufacturer to fit CESAR and the related Emission Compliance Verification (ECV) marking to its Stage V dump trucks.

CESAR is the official construction and agricultural equipment security and registration scheme, is owned by the CEA (Construction Equipment Association) and developed by Datatag ID. In 2019, the ECV system was added which takes a machine’s emission compliance standard from the engine’s EU Type Approval number and displays it on a colour-coded plate.

ECV provides a quick and easy visual reference where machines are working on sites and are required to comply with Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) emission regulations.

The system combines the technology behind the security marking scheme with an additional colour-coded plate showing the engine emission Stage from II through to V. It can also provide data on electric machines and, in future, hydrogen powered equipment.

The machine data is collated on a secure database accessible through the ECV clearing portal. This information enables plant owners and operators, contractors, and site managers to comply with any local policy or contractual obligation in place regarding machinery emissions levels.
