Marline arouses interest

Here’s the scenario. A customer has hired an item of petrol powered machinery that has run out of fuel and so faces the hassle of finding a clean five-litre container before a trek to the nearest filling station. They than have to dispense the fuel and try to get it home without spilling any.
It’s a waste of time when the user would rather get on with their job, and it’s the sort of situation that Marline Premium pre-packed fuel from the Hire Supply Company (HSC) is designed to prevent.
The product was mentioned on the blog when it was launched a few months ago and Gary McWilliam, HSC’s managing director, tells me that interest has been growing steadily since, not least because of the benefits it also offers hire companies.
“It’s an additional revenue stream for any tool hire shop. At the moment they will usually fill the machine with petrol when it goes out on hire, but then it’s up to the customer to refill it when it runs out.
“Hirers can sell them the Marline fuel at the point of hire, perhaps on a sale or return basis, and it solves the hassles. It’s also better for the machine and for the environment, and it has a five-year shelf life.”
The Marline pre-mixed 2-stroke and 4-stroke petrol is available in 1-litre or 5-litre containers. It is an ethanol-free biodegradable alkylate fuel and is claimed to give a 99 per cent reduction in hydrocarbon emissions.
● Gary also tells me that HSC’s continuous improvement of its lighting products has led to the development of new LED light heads, scheduled for launch this autumn. They are designed to consume 35W rather than 50W with no loss of illumination and to bring considerable energy savings.
