Briggs acquires Galway Plant and Tool Hire

Briggs Equipment, the exclusive UK distributor of Hyster-Yale forklift trucks whose other interests include hire activities, has acquired Galway Plant and Tool Hire (GPT) which operates from eight sites throughout the Republic of Ireland.
The operation also includes a commercial vehicle hire division, representing a new market for Briggs.
Peter Jones, Briggs Equipment’s group managing director, said: “We are delighted to welcome Galway Plant and Tool Hire into the Briggs Equipment Group. Their extensive fleet of 2,800 plant assets, 1,900 commercial vehicles and dedicated expert people will allow us to significantly increase and improve the quality and diversity of our service offering throughout Ireland.”

Enda Eiffe will become sole managing director of GPT to oversee the day-to-day operations of the business and ensure a smooth transition into the Briggs group.
Briggs Equipment also owns several other Irish hire companies including Laois Hire Services, Balloo Hire Centres, Aerial Platform Hire and JB Plant Hire.
