Busy Shindaiwa shows its versatility

Shindaiwa is amongst the suppliers who are reporting no decrease in business activity despite the recent forecasts of an economic downturn.

The company has just provided ten Powercenter 15 generators to a national hire company for a customer undertaking an industrial petrochemical shutdown project.

“Something that makes this machine particularly popular is its multi-voltage capability,” managing director Andy Munford tells me. “It can provide 415V, 240V and 110V outputs, simultaneously if needs be up to the maximum loading, making it extremely versatile and efficient for operators.

“It also means that a hire company can have it in their fleet to offer for many different customer applications, like local fetes and weddings, as well as heavier duty tasks.

“The Powercenter 15 has a Kubota Stage V diesel engine, is compact and can be towed by a car or van. It ticks a lot of boxes.”

To enable use in a potentially explosive petrochemicals environment, Shindaiwa fitted the generators with overspeed valves from Wyndham Page and ATEX-classification stainless steel spark arrestors.

“We undertake this in-house,” says Andy. “Instead of using proprietary spark arrestors, we have had units designed for each model that we offer. These are fitted inside the machine, meaning that they cannot be inadvertently touched by the user during normal operation.”

Shindaiwa reported record results in its most recent financial year and the company says business remains very strong.

“July and August are typically quieter holiday months but they have been very busy for us. We are not seeing any downturn or quietening down in the market at all,” says Andy.

And given the recent economic forecasts and predictions in some quarters, that’s positive news indeed.
