Speedy appoints new CEO

Speedy Hire has announced the appointment of Dan Evans as its chief executive, to take effect from 1 October 2022. He has been recruited from within the business.

Dan, pictured below, is currently Speedy’s chief operating officer and has been with the company for 14 years.

He replaces Russell Down who announced in May his intention to retire and will step down from the board and his role as chief executive on 30 September 2022. He will remain with Speedy until 10 May 2023 to ensure an effective transition. Dan’s appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process that considered both internal and external candidates.

In his current role he is responsible for the group's operational performance in the UK and Ireland including sales, business development and marketing.

He is also a board member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School.  Speedy has committed to reaching net zero emissions before 2050 and has set science based targets to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% before 2030.

David Shearer, Speedy chairman, said: “Dan knows our customers and the business well, has performed exceptionally as chief operating officer, and has been integral to the development of our strategy with Russell and the Board.

“I would like to thank Russell once again for his significant contribution as chief executive and wish him well for the future."
