KMA’s commitment wins local acclaim

An ongoing commitment to supporting its local community has led to acclaim and plaudits for KMA Tool Hire & Sales.

The busy independent in Mold, North Wales, recently supplied a 10kVA Hyundai generator in response to an emergency call outside office hours on a Friday evening from a couple who were getting married the next day. The reception was to be held in a marquee on a local farmer’s field but a generator they had hired from another supplier had broken down and service personnel couldn't be contacted.

“I saw the couple's plea on social media and immediately went over to help them because the last thing anybody wants is hassle on the day of your wedding. We wanted everything to go right for them,” said KMA director Mark Alexander.

“The machine kept tripping out and I couldn't get it to reset, so I went back to our depot and within an hour I had delivered the generator to them with all the necessary cables and equipment.”

The couple were obviously delighted.

Also, in May, KMA was named as Business of the Year in the Mold Town Council Community Awards for 2022 from more than 200 nominations. These are significant because, rather than being self-nominated, entrants are put forward by local people to reward excellent performance.

“During Storm Arwen last November which disrupted power supplies for several days in some areas, we saw an appeal on social media from a terminally ill lady in an outlying village. She was worried that the backup power supply for the equipment she depends on would run out,” said Mark.

“We quickly supplied her with an Altrad Belle 3.4kVA generator and she was really grateful. She nominated us for the award and we were delighted to come out on top.”

● Given the recent hot weather, KMA made a timely addition of portable air conditioning equipment to its fleet this year with machines from the Hire Supply Company.

“HSC supported us during Covid,” said Mark. “They kept open when a lot of other suppliers didn’t. When we needed equipment and consumables, MD Gary McWilliam and others from the team would even process orders on Sundays and deliver them quickly. They really stood up to the challenge and helped hirers like us, and I can’t thank them enough.”

Again, it just shows the value of excellent service.
