Bobcat concepts for Bauma

A transparent touch display that projects site information on to the cab windows of machines is amongst technological developments to be previewed by Bobcat at the Bauma exhibition to be held in Munich on 24 to 30 October.

The concept, developed in conjunction with LG Electronics and BSI Research and utilises OLED (organic light emitting diode) technology, provides a transparent touch display embedded within the glass structure of the operator’s cab to enhance their productivity, efficiency and visibility of the task at hand.

The display can be positioned on the front windscreen or side window of the cab on a range of Bobcat machines, including mini excavators, telehandlers and loaders.

Other innovations to be shown include Quad Tracks designed to allow the wheels of selected skid steer loaders to be replaced with four individual ‚track pods‘, effectively converting them into tracked loaders. These are currently being tested in USA markets.

Also displayed will be the T7X all-electric compact tracked loader and the concept E35 ‘operate by wire’ mini excavator, a 3.5-tonne electro-hydraulically controlled machine with integrated sensors to enable the semi-automation of tasks like precise grading and levelling, trenching or repetitive tasks.

● When it was last held in 2019, Bauma attracted 627,603 visitors from over 217 countries and regions, and 3,684 exhibitors. The event normally takes place every three years in April, but was postponed by six months in the wake of the pandemic.
