Chippindale goes large in Leeds

Chippindale Plant has expanded its site accommodation business with a new 'super depot' at its Leeds headquarters.

The equipment hirer and supplier, which employs more than 120 staff and has nine depots serving the north of England, has invested more than £1 million into its cabin fleet this year, adding in excess of 50 units, with further expansion planned in the coming months. Previously the site accommodation service was centred in the Manchester region.

Chippindale’s accommodation fleet now totals approximately 550 cabins. Five additional employees have been taken on at the new Leeds depot, with further expansion expected.

Nigel Chippindale, joint managing director at Chippindale Plant, said: "This large investment has allowed us to not only drastically expand our fleet but to ensure we can provide the premium levels of quality that our customers expect. We're working alongside renowned West Yorkshire cabin manufacturer, Thurston Group, on premium custom cabin builds for our fleet.”

He added that the company is exploring new technology such as solar panels, moveable walls and thermostatic heaters to address environmental considerations, complementing measures that Chippindale has already adopted such as the use of HVO-compliant generators and systems to monitor fuel use together with reporting functionality.

Chippindale Plant was recently acquired by AER Rents which also owns Mr Plant Hire, Drogheda Hire & Sales, Mainline Group and the site accommodation specialist Welfare 4 Hire.
