Charles Wilson grabs JCB telehandlers

Charles Wilson Engineers (CW Plant) has invested in a fleet of JCB rotating telehandlers in a deal worth more than £5 million, the biggest order so far for the new product, according to the manufacturer.

The hirer has ordered 25 machines including the 21m 555-210R and the 26m 555-260R models.

Powered by JCB’s Stage V Dieselmax engines, the units have auto engine idle and auto engine stop fitted as standard, further reducing fuel use and exhaust emissions.

Steve Fox, JCB’s managing director of global major accounts, said: “We are delighted to be sole supplier of rotating telehandlers to CW Plant. To secure such a significant contract with a leading player in the market strengthens our long-standing partnership and is a fantastic endorsement of these new additions to our range.”

Graham Pollard, director of Charles Wilson Engineers said that the company “is committed to owning the best fleet of equipment in the industry. We chose JCB for the renowned product quality and service back-up. The rotating telehandler market is a growing one and we want to be at the forefront of that by building the number one fleet in the UK.”

From a single site in 1979, Charles Wilson Engineers currently has 31 depots located throughout the UK offering a comprehensive fleet of tools, equipment and plant across a series of specialist divisions.

● Charles Wilson recently acquired M&J Hire Centres, as reported on the blog last week.
