Nixon board appointments

Nixon Hire has recently made a number of executive appointments to strengthen the company’s board.

This follows on from the major investment in the business by Prudential Private Capital (“Pricoa”) which was announced in September 2021, as reported on the blog at the time. 

Paul Corten joined Nixon Hire in April as group sales director, responsible for overseeing the company’s sales, business development and marketing functions, as well as the operation of its centralised hire and re-hire desks. 

He has 26 years’ hire industry experience across multiple sectors, having held senior sales, commercial and operational positions at Coates Rentair, Speedy Hire, HSS Hire and VPS Group. Throughout his 17 years at Speedy, he had roles as UK events and entertainment manager, UK sales manager, commercial manager, sector director and UK market director (power division). At HSS he helped to grow the company’s Abird Power Solutions Division from £6.8m to approximately £30m.

Gerard Murray was appointed as chairman of the Nixon Hire board in October 2021. He has previously held senior finance positions at Reg Vardy, Northgate Vehicle Hire, Ardent Hire Solutions, Benfield Motor Group and other listed companies, most recently having been chief financial officer at Tharsus Group, an automation and robotics company. 

John Hudson is set to join Nixon Hire in June as chief financial officer. Starting his career in research roles within British Nuclear Fuels and British Gas, has has held senior finance positions at companies including Black & Decker, Ideal Stelrad Group, Port of Tyne and most recently as chief financial officer at Home Group.

We are confident that they will put the skills and expertise they have garnered within their previous roles to great use, in helping to put comprehensive strategies in place to allow us to realise the significant ambitions we have for the business.”

Nixon Hire currently employs approximately 520 people and operates 13 depots in the UK throughout England and Scotland.
