DTGen helps Ukraine

Generator supplier DTGen is working with the team at Opir, a Scottish-based voluntary organisation, to ship a unit to Ukraine in support of the humanitarian appeal.

The 250kVA machine has been donated by DTGen along with more than 30 boxes filled with other essential items and is being transported by Finnie Heavy Haulage.

The generator is expected to arrive in Ukraine by next weekend, and will be taken right in to conflict area to provide power for a medical facility in Lviv.

David Oates, managing director at DTGen, said: “Like the rest of the country, we have watched in horror as the situation in Ukraine has been unfolding, and have been eager to show support for the people affected by the war. As always, our team has really pulled together, and we’re thankful to all involved that we can make this happen.”

Julie Joseph OBE, a volunteer with Opir, added: “It’s extraordinary what can be achieved when we all pull together. We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone involved so far, with a special mention for DTGen for gifting the generator and for Finnie for providing the transportation to get the equipment to where it is needed.

“We have connected with iCare Ukraine to support with local intelligence and for the delivery of donations in Ukraine. This is proving to be very efficient and by working together we are ensuring aid and support is reaching those most in need,” she added.

Opir is a Dumfries-based group of ordinary people who felt compelled to do something to support the people of Ukraine and Poland. It has direct experience of getting aid directly to the people in need and everyone involved is purely a volunteer. It has already distributed 10.5 tonnes of aid to Ukraine and this is the second trip.

DTGen supplies, installs and maintains diesel and gas generators, providing customers with products, support and advice throughout the life cycle of their generator set. Its 6.3-acre Glasgow headquarters holds in excess of £1 million worth of machines from 6kVA to 3000kVA.

The company also has premises in Bristol and Rugby.
