Makita half century

Some significant events took place in 1972. Britain signed the European Economic Community (EEC) treaty to join the Common Market; the hugely successful exhibition themed around the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun opened; the Watergate burglary took place that would eventually lead to US president Richard Nixon’s downfall; and Makita opened its first UK office.

In the intervening 50 years the power tool manufacturer has built a national network of distributors and merchant partners, as well as investing in four purpose-built factory service centres and training facilities throughout the UK.

Over recent years Makita has established a broad range of cordless tools for construction and grounds care tasks, currently offering more than over 270 LXT and 50 XGT battery powered models.

Kevin Brannigan, marketing manager at Makita UK said: “We are delighted to be marking our 50th year of trading in the UK. We are incredibly proud of what we have been able to achieve since 1972 – and the vast array of cordless products and new technologies that we can offer tradespeople to aid their productivity and efficiency on site.”

To mark the milestone, the company will be announcing a number of promotions and product launches throughout the year.
