Hillhead blasts off

This year’s Hillhead exhibition for quarrying, construction, and recycling professionals is shaping up to be the biggest yet with more than 600 exhibitors.

To accommodate the resultant demand for working displays of equipment, two sections of the quarry face in the demonstration area at the north end of the site were recently drilled and blasted to produce around 30,000 tonnes of run-of-quarry stone for machines to use. 

The exhibition is taking place from 21 to 23 June at Hillhead Quarry, near Buxton in Derbyshire, after a gap of four years owing to the pandemic. This year the organisers are commemorating 40 years since the event was held for the first time.
