Vp looks forward with confidence

Vp anticipates a full-year performance ahead of expectations in a trading update for the period since its interim results announced last November. It highlights an ongoing recovery in performance within core markets including infrastructure, construction and housebuilding.

The UK division reports strong demand from HS2, housebuilding, transmission projects and RMI (renovation, maintenance and improvement) construction work, and the group says it has seen an encouraging uplift in new civil engineering projects in the latter part of its financial year.

The latest version of Brandon Hire Station’s online trading platform has been introduced, together with a web-based app.

On 31 March, Vp acquired the in-house plant and tools fleet of Watkin Jones plc and has entered into a five-year supply agreement to provide its equipment hire needs.

Amongst Vp’s international interests, technical equipment hire group TR, and offshore and onshore energy equipment hirer Airpac Rentals, both based in Australia, made progress as country and state borders re-opened with the easing of Covid.

Neil Stothard, Vp chief executive, added that "we have made excellent progress with both our technology offering and with the introduction of more environmentally friendly equipment solutions for our customers. We look ahead with optimism, confident that we will continue to deliver excellent value growth for our shareholders."
