Challenger’s busy Grafters

Portable toilet hirer Challenger Site Services continues to expand its specialist vehicle fleet.
The Altrincham-based business introduced Isuzu trucks to its line-up two years ago and since then has taken delivery of ten 3.5 tonne Grafter models as part of its 26-strong fleet of delivery and collection vehicles and tankers. Four more will be added later this year.
The hirer's three newest vehicles have automatic gearboxes. Two of these trucks have been fitted with bespoke tanker bodies incorporating a single barrel with a dividing baffle to allow the body to hold either 1100 litres of waste, or 900 litres of fresh water, within the same body.
The third has a portable toilet transport body which is capable of carrying six cubicles.
The company estimates that the Isuzu Grafters will have a five-year working life in their fleet, covering approximately 25,000 miles per annum.
“The trucks servicing our portable toilet division are worked really hard as we have over 1,500 individual site visits to complete every week,” said Shaun Allen, partner with Challenger Site Services.
“We have found that the Isuzu Grafter is a more robust and solid truck, which is very reliable in service. The short wheelbase model in particular gives us excellent access at the smaller, more compact building sites, which is an enormous help when these tanker trucks are servicing our portable toilets.”
