Stage further for BGG

Stage further for BGG

While BGG UK reports strong interest in its Stage V low-emission generators and hybrid lighting towers, managing director Chris Archer tells me that demand is not wholly due to customers’ interest in sustainable products.

“A key factor is simply fleet renewal as kit is ageing, as well as fleet expansion to meet customer needs.

“A lot of hirers and end users are forward planning, especially in the light of supply chain disruptions. Demand is particularly strong for units from 60kVA to 200kVA.”

Reflecting this on-going growth, BGG last year appointed Suzanne Hobson as its UK sales manager. She has previously worked for the industrial engine supplier Volvo Penta, as well as Western Tydens which manufactures spark arresters and overspeed shutdown valves. Suzanne has also worked for the Energy Saving Trust.

“One of the challenges that hirers and their customers face in transitioning from generators with Stage IIIa engines to Stage V models is, of course, that they have to familiarise themselves with the new technology, such as maintaining DPFs (diesel particulate filters) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) systems,” Suzanne told me.

Obviously, such technology carries a higher price tag and so hirers must check that their hire rates adequately reflect that.
